Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Oh what a beautiful MOOOORRR-NINNNNGGGG, Oh what a beautiful day...
I heart all holidays. I mean, Thanksgiving? Come on. A day to be--- that's right, thankful! Say thank you. Feel gratitude. Celebrate everything you have ever appreciated. Reflect on the goodness of the Giver of every good gift. And eat. Eat as if it's the physical manifestation of your gratuity. Seriously, how can you not love that?
We had a really great day. I didn't spoil the oven with burnt pie filling, the turkey cooked all the way through, had plenty of time to rest, and really wowed Dale. I can't lie, the green rice was a total loss, and the stuffing wasn't my fave. And the rolls were not the tender delicious goodness I would have preferred, but over all I think the food was spot on, which means two days of labor for the grand finale was not in vain.
There were a few times that I let myself ponder the feasting in Emporia and Richmond, but not for long. We have a ready-made party full of sincerely gratuitous eaters which makes it all worth it. Happy Thanksgiving, sweet friends and neighbors. I hope you all had the best, best, best ever!!!

HEY!! I have a new nephew too! WOOHOO! Welcome to the world, Dylan. May the fullness of your life be the blessed sweet gift from God that we all believe it is going to be. I can't wait to snuggle you! Congratulations, Dave and Erin. We are SOOOO happy for you!

guard dog

  This dog is a fierce opponent of mine. For over a year I have avoided the last leg of my two-mile walk because of his ferocious bark. I have a fear of dogs from childhood that is pretty irrational, but I am able to reason myself out of running scared, sometimes. Instead of walking to the end of his block, I would just retrace the distance over an area that was dog-free. It felt silly, but it kept me safe. Then one day there were two walkers ahead of me that managed to get to the end of the block with no sign of attack. I could hear the dog barking, but he didn’t approach, so I assumed there was an electric fence. Oh the joy I felt at this discovery! I began to shed my fear and walk freely to the end of the trail.  I was so happy about my newfound freedom that I decided to write about it. So one day, I stopped on the sidewalk in front of the dog’s house to take a photo of him. Before I knew it he was charging at me, barking viciously. He got closer and closer and I walked quickly down

Hi, have you met Dale? Than you know why this picture shocks me everytime I look at, it's like I'm seeing it for the first time. So I'm praying that I'll have at LEAST one writing project done by next spring. With the new home schooling goals, I don't know how practical that is, but without a forty hour commitment to working every week, starting in October, I'll have a little free tiME! WE GOT THE JOB!!! Dale interviewed today. We should have a reporting date in October. Thank you all, with all sincerity, for your prayers for us and the timing on this crazy thing. It has been worth the wait- for this. If we had not been forced to wait the past months, Dale would have gone into the interview totally unprepared, overweight and out of shape. But God... For years we have lived our lives like Mario- when he's invisible and the fast music is playing- invincible.
